Ciao, we’re Simone and Bella, the husband-and-wife team behind Terra Mia Travel.

Simone was born and raised in Porticello, a fishing village near Palermo, where his family has welcomed people around the table for more than fifty years. Bella is Australian and came to Sicily through love, first for Simone, and then for the island itself.

After five years running our neighbourhood restaurant in Sydney, we moved to Sicily with our daughter and created Terra Mia Travel: a way to share the island through the food, people, places and everyday moments that have shaped our own lives.

Terra Mia is not about showing you Sicily. It is about welcoming you into the Sicily we know and love. One of us came home; one of us fell in love. Between us are generations of family, food and hospitality—and a life built across two countries. We create journeys from that lived connection, so you don’t just pass through Sicily. You feel part of it.

You won’t simply remember where you went. You’ll remember how Sicily made you feel. The scent of bread from a village bakery, a table that keeps growing, the old man who insists you taste one more thing, the afternoon that never needed a plan.

We are also parents to a young daughter, so we understand firsthand that travelling with little people changes the rhythm of a journey. It asks for more flexibility, more thought and sometimes an entirely different way of experiencing a place. This is why family travel sits so naturally within Terra Mia. We create journeys that allow children to be children, while their parents still experience the beauty, food and soul of Sicily, without anyone feeling as though they have missed out.
